Curcumin
You must have heard many times that the benefits of turmeric  mostly come from a chemical called (curcumin) present in it. But have you ever wondered what is curcumin? From here you can understand about curcumin in easy words.
Curcumin is considered to be the most important and active chemical found in turmeric (haldi). Turmeric gets its color only because of curcumin. Curcumin does not allow fungal births and also does not allow tissue swelling. Consuming the correct amount of curcumin protects against diseases like arthritis, forgetfulness, dementia. In addition, curcumin has the ability to reduce anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and blood sugar levels.
1)Anti-Inflammatory In Nature
The benefits of turmeric come from the chemical called curcumin present in it. In olden times, turmeric paste was applied to cure the wounds of soldiers. Due to its anti-inflammatory quality, it is considered beneficial for relieving arthritis pain. It helps in reducing inflammation of joints, which relieves pain. To increase the quality of turmeric, it is added to every vegetable for color, taste and benefits.
2)Maintain Healthy Digestion
The benefits of turmeric (haldi ke fayde) are found most due to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidants present in it. Turmeric properties are very useful when there is gas or indigestion in the stomach. Many times we eat something that contains acid, even though the acid is very small, but it is enough to make gas. In such a situation, the properties of turmeric are very useful in keeping the stomach healthy.
3)Mood Enhancer
Curcumin found in turmeric protects the brain from BDNF, a brain-healthy protein. Curcumin helps to increase pleasure hormones such as serotonin and dopamine, which help improve mood. Turmeric is of great use to those who are going through psychological problems. So you must use turmeric in your diet.
4)Detoxifies Liver
Whenever someone has liver problems, those people are advised to use turmeric in the diet. The medicinal properties of turmeric help to detoxify the body. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, curcumin increases bile production in the gall bladder and with these bile, vital cells are produced in the liver that help eliminate the liver's harmful substances. Using turmeric helps in keeping the liver healthy.
Curcumin is the polyphenol identified as the primary active agent in turmeric. It is a powerful antiinflammatory plant chemical that can help reduce pain and symptoms associated with inflammation. It is responsible for over 150 potentially therapeutic activities. These include helping to detoxify the liver; regulate high blood pressure, metabolism and weight; maintain cholesterol levels; improve memory and brain function; and promote digestive health just to name a few.  Curcumin’s anti-cancer properties are well documented in research studies, particularly its ability to inhibit tumors. Curcumin has been shown to slow down the formation of new blood vessels in tumors, stopping them in their tracks. One of the key benefits of curcumin is that it is nontoxic and selectively targets cancer cells. Current evidence from preclinical studies suggests the strong potential of curcumin to slow the development of cancer, against a variety of tumors. Many studies concluded that curcumin matches or surpasses the ability of drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen to combat health problems, but without the expense and side effects.
Note Carefully
Consumption of curcumin in high amounts increases the acidity in the stomach, which can cause many more problems such as digestive power problems, diarrhea etc. Consuming the correct amount of curcumin keeps the mood good, but if its quantity is high then it can cause headache. Although it has not been proved on humans right now, but mice have been shown to increase swelling, stomach bark, etc. and in many cases liver size is increased by taking curcumin irregularly.
